Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Roger DeBlanck For my next novel, the story is based very loosely on the life of my brother-in-law. He is an Apache Mescalero Indian, and he had a very rough childhood and upbringing. He shared with me some memories, and I instantly knew I had the starting point for a novel. However, as with each of my novels, the story takes on a life of its own and I merely become the conduit through which the narrative is told.
