Amanda asked Kimberly McCreight:

In "Reconstructing Amelia", I kept hoping something would happen and Amelia would actually be alive (she was dreaming it all, somehow changed the past, etc). Don't get me wrong, I loved the story, and having lost my sister, there was a lot I appreciated about your description of grieving someone who dies too young. I'm just wondering if at any time during your writing process you considered something like this?

Kimberly McCreight Hi Amanda, Thanks for much for reading and for your question. And I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. To answer your question, no, I never considered it. It was actually really important to me that Amelia not live. Because kids in her situation so often don't and it felt important to honor that reality. Thanks again for the question. Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.
