Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Matt Wingett My most recent book is a novel called The Snow Witch.

It all started a few years ago when I was walking down the shopping centre in my home town, and I saw a lone female violinist busking.

She was such a striking figure that I invite her, and her boyfriend for a coffee, just to have a chat. They were musicians from the Appalachian Mountains and were just to get a ferry from Portsmouth, my home town, to Europe.

I loved the idea of a musician busking around Europe, and I began to think of a scenario that would bring one to Portsmouth. For some reason, appearing in a snow storm appealed to me... and the whole story wound itself out from that single image of a lone violinist on the street.
