I'm a Christian raised in a Christian home till my dad left for someone else. I deeply trust & rely/pray to God each day before I ever rise from bed to start a day & before I go to sleep at night. What happened to the point where you sort of 'woke' up & wanted a deeper look/study in-depth more? How do you start doing the deeper dive? My son has his Master's in Divinity at 25 yrs old, Love it! Thank you!

Hi there Amy, good to meet you.
I'm sad to hear that you had to go through something like that, but encouraged by your faith to carry on with God in spite of such a trial. And what's more to raise a son to pursue after the Lord as well. He's working to refine us all for things to come, and I know looking back on a very terrible time in my life with a failed relationship that God was teaching me some very important things even then.
That's awesome about your son pursuing service to God at such a young age, too. I wish I'd found my passion and direction a little sooner, but I know looking back that everything happened in God's time. My journey into apologetics and finding passion for the Lord began with dating someone who was not a believer but who had grown up in a Catholic home. In my naivety, I decided to try and missionary date and started reading books on apologetics so I could better speak to her about the truth of our faith. We were definitely unequally yoked, and I could tell it would cause issues later. Of course, missionary dating almost never turns out well. I came to realize she didn't like discussing such things and I didn't want to pressure her unfairly, so we each moved on.
But my study started encouraging my own faith and later led to an in-depth discussion with an atheist on a military deployment. We challenged each other to read some literature, which led me down a path of studying all kinds of attacks on the Bible. It challenged me greatly, but when I encountered some powerful fulfilled prophecy (which is why I wrote my book), God really spoke to me and turned me around a full 180 from my doubts. Eventually I answered all those doubts and then some. The fire for sharing God's truth was lit--He said, this is the way I want you to go. It led to much more study, teaching apologetics classes at church and eventually to working on a masters degree on the subject. It's been quite a journey over the last several years, and I'm always anxious to see where God leads next.
May I ask what kept your faith going strong while dealing with that challenging time in your life? Thank you very much for your question and God bless!
