I wanted to write a book that I would've liked as a young person. I didn't naturally gravitate toward books back then. They'd have to really capture me in some way. The books I tended to like were mysteries with touches of romance and lots of suspense. That's what inspired me most when I was writing Blue is for Nightmares. I wanted to grab reluctant readers from the very first page and get them excited about reading.
