Goodreads asked John Drake:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

John Drake Sorry but I can't help. I never have it, and I offer my sympathy for those that do. In my case, I think I don't get it because before starting to write, I do intense research for c.3 to 5 months. Then I write the book. The only problem I then have is how to cram into each chapter all the things I want to say. After that, as far as I know, there is no Magic Fairy that slides down a moonbeam to whisper in your ear, telling you what to write. Or if there is, then she's never been anywhere near me (do tell if I've got this wrong, and you've actually met her). So I'd strongly advise against waiting for her, and to get back to the research.
