Stephen asked:

Significance of the boat? I'm unsure as too why the rumour of the boat would spread like wildfire amongst the donors, and have been of such interest?

Lisa Mooc I wondered about that, too. I disagree with Steve's theory, as there's nothing else to support it. Had Germany won WWII there would have been some signs of Nazism and the clones would all be blond and blue-eyed. As it is, they're barely described physically, so I'd assume they just look fairly typical of other English people.

My only explanation of the boat is that it's meant to be a symbol. A boat, just sitting there stranded in marshy water. But I have no idea why the clones would care. Just another annoying element of a book I wouldn't even publish, if it were me.
Steve I think that this novel takes place in an alternate reality where Germany won WWII and that England is not allowed to have boats.
