I've written a lot of other books, indeed. Mostly picture books and a couple of early readers. (You can check some of these out at cecebell.com). El Deafo is ALMOST my favorite of my own books. I actually like a picture book I did, called BEE-WIGGED, just a teensy bit more—mostly because it is as weird as they come and has a funny twist near the end. Thanks for your question!

I loved your book and have recommended it to many people. What treatments and education would a preschooler or grade-schooler in your situation receive today? It seems like your early education focused on lip-reading and speech, and you didn't have rigorous ASL or Signing Exact English instruction. Would a cochlear implant have helped you?
