Goodreads asked Tess Duck:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Tess Duck Why are you asking me for advice? I'm not a professional. I'm a student with a dinky novel I made in bookbuilding class! But I guess there are people that can get on the best seller list and still insist that that they are not a "real" authors because they are not Earnest Hemingway or Kurt Vonnegut. I guess there is no such thing as a "real" author. In writing, nothing feels permanent. Things don't get easier once you have your name printed in a book, but don't let that get you down. You define your own success. And even if you haven't been published yet, you are a writer, because you are writing. You are writing because you love to write. Never forget that.
