Goodreads asked S.R. Algernon:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

S.R. Algernon My most recent longer work was "Oubliette" in Parsec Ink's Triangulation: Steel Cities anthology. I was inspired in part by stories of amnesiac patients (such as the ones that Oliver Sacks wrote about) and a general feeling that amnesia can be both a prison and a release from past misdeeds. I started with the idea of a walled city where the inmates had lost their long-term memories and I built the world from there.
