Jennifer Estep:
I recently started re-reading the entire Elemental Assassins series from the beginning (including short stories) in anticipation for book #14 coming out in February. I was wondering how you came to write the short stories and novellas? Were they just ideas as you were writing the main books to get a history right in your head or did you write them after the fact to fill in gaps in a character's story? Thanks!

When I first started doing the stories -- especially the free ones posted on my website -- I just thought that they would be fun extras for readers and fans of the series. Plus, they were fun for me to do since they let me explore other characters' viewpoints, especially how they see Gin.
I'm going to be doing some more e-novellas -- including UNWANTED on July 18, which is from Finn's POV. Now, with the e-novellas, I'm using them more to tell what happens to the other characters and some of the adventures they have when Gin is not around.

Why did you abandoned Donovan Craine after the second book? I feel like those two had great potential to overcome their prejustice and grow in their character till they finally get together. Despite that, I did enjoy your other series and Gins fiestyness :D still do, I reread Mythos academy quite regularly :-)
