Daniel Fantin asked this question about Bleach, Vol. 1:
Is this series, Bleach by Tite Kubo, appropriate for Middle School students? Is there any cussing or strong sexual content that would be inappropriate for younger readers? Any suggestions on good manga series for Middle School Students? Thanks! Dan
Shadowjac Depends, here's a run down on some of the questionable content.
There's a decent amount of swearing but no f-bombs
For sexual content Kubo draws most of…more

For sexual content Kubo draws most of his female characters with large breasts, later in the series there is mild nudity, no nipples are shown but the character in question is clearly naked. One of the characters is a pervert who dreams of touching breasts.
The series has large amounts of violence, it's not the most realistic but you see large amounts of black ink to represent the blood.

As for alternative series if your looking for action shonen manga I'd recommend :
One Piece
Record of a Fallen Vampire
Zoids
Pokemon Adventures
Astro Boy
Pandora Hearts (slightly more mature than the others on this list)

And just general manga appropriate for middle schools
Chi's Sweet Home
Cardcaptor Sakura
Ultra Maniac
Hollow Fields
The Recipe for Gertrude
Yakitate!! Japan(less)
