Goodreads asked Jamie Jones:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jamie Jones You know that nagging feeling you get at the back of your mind when you wake up at 4am and have no idea what's woken you or when you're at a brilliant gig with your mates and you feel on top of the world but still that nagging feeling sits there?

Well this book is that feeling put down on paper. The story is loosely based around my life and many of the tales contained within it are true, though all girls’ names have been changed to protect the innocent. As my middle aged brain begins to falter, I figured that it was important for my kids to know "what dad was like in his teenage years". Now that the books completed, I'm not so sure that was a great idea. I'm not afraid to stand up and say that I bloody loved the 1990's. We’ve sat and dutifully listened to our parents prattle on about how great the 70's were and our older siblings say the same of the 80's, so now it's the time for the 90's generation to pipe up.

'I Blame Morrissey' covers the big events of the 90's through the eyes of Jay – from the heartbreak of the 1990 World Cup, the rise of the music festivals, the collective hysteria of Diana's death and on through to Millennium Eve. Jay observes it all, whilst listening to some of the greatest pop music ever made on his Sony Discman.
