A Goodreads user asked Jaq Hazell:

What is the first, most important thing you would tell someone who feels they have a book in them to write, to do?

Jaq Hazell Hi Heather, I see you've written two books already. My advice to a beginner would be to read as much as you can, keep a diary and start to scribble down any interesting observations you make. Keep a notebook with you at all times and have a pen and paper next to your bed as good ideas often come as you're resting. Perhaps start by writing a short story about your character. This is a good test to see if there is scope to expand your ideas into a novel.
