This is going to seem like such a trivial question, but can you give me any hints on how to get an advanced/early reader copy of Acceptance? This series is rocking me hard! I can't stop thinking about it!
Jeff VanderMeer
Jennifer--Thanks so much for the enthusiasm! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that there are many advance copies left--they've been pretty popular, which is gratifying. But I can say that it looks like there may be a Southern Reach short story released before Acceptance. But only if I can find the time to finish it. We'll see. I hope you like the third book. I'm actually wishing it was September already, to be honest. Who knew an accelerated publishing schedule would start to look slow?!

Regarding POV in Wonderbook: What is the best way to solidify an omniscient objective POV in the mind of the reader as they enter a story – without making the narrator a defined presence or character in his own right? I find that readers sometimes latch on to the first character to speak or act and respond as though the story was written in third person limited. Thus, POV shifts read as inappropriate head hopping.

I am asking a simple question, Jeff, on a subject that troubles me on a constant basis. How do you make a story creepy, more specifically, how do you foreshadow properly to make a story creepy with plenty of tension. I said simple question, but I know there is no simple answer. Thanks!!

Hi, Jeff! One of the most distinguishing features of Wonderbook was the inclusion of pictures and paintings to provide a visual stimulus for the readers' creativity. My question is: do you use works of visual arts as inspiration for your creative process, e.g. when imagining fantastical settings? If so, do you draw from your favourite styles/artists, or do you consciously search for something new that might be of use?
