Benjamin Russell asked Erin Bowman:

Hi Erin! You recently had a Skype session with the woodstown middle school, and I was there! Thank you so much for skyping with us! I loved how you got so into detail with all of the questions. A final question since I never got to ask you at the skype, does it ever make you nervous when you are surrounded by children having to answer their questions?

Erin Bowman Hi Ben! I really enjoy Skype visits. I get to chat with classrooms and smart students from the comfort of my home, so no, I don't get too nervous in those situations. :)

But when I do bookstore events, or larger school visits (think: me standing on a stage in front of a packed auditorium), YES, I get nervous. But this has very little to do with the audience being children. I'd get nervous for a large crowd of adults, too. In these situations, my nerves are usually just a small case of stage fright, and once I start talking, they slowly fade away. (It also helps that teen readers are some of the smartest readers out there. You guys are so much fun to chat with.)
