I have. It's one of the great tragedies of publishing when a series doesn't get to finish. Obviously publishing is a business, so--from a business standpoint-- it makes sense that sometimes if a series isn't making them enough money they would decide not to continue with it. But it breaks my heart every time it happens and I totally feel you on your frustration.
Sadly, the only thing readers can do is support the series they love. If you love a book, tell your friends. Tell your teachers. Tell your librarians. Post reviews for it on places like amazon and barnes & noble (and of course goodreads). Word of mouth is the single most effective thing to help a series grow, so anything you do to spread the word can make a difference. There's still no guarantee of course, but every little bit helps, and the author will definitely be super grateful.
