Music mainly, especially heavy metal music for action scenes. I'll envisage a scene over many times before committing it to paper. I have an eclectic music collection and will listen to something appropriate for whatever I'm writing, for example something soft and gentle like Enya of Lana Del Rey for romantic scenes and Goth music for my paranormal books or any intensely dark moments.
