I have to rush through certain tasks in my normal "responsible life" to be certain they are done in order to clear my head to write (otherwise I'm wondering how much laundry is waiting to be folded and that is a huge distraction). Then I fix myself either a cup of coffee or tea, plug into my Pandora, clear my head, and start letting the words flow from my fingers.
