Carol
Carol asked Susan Wittig Albert:

Do you play with the what if? How do you know if you what if the wrong question for a scene or character or story? Does it feel wrong once you explored it? Do you save that what if for another time? Carol :D

Susan Wittig Albert "What if" is one of the most important questions I ask. Usually the first impulse is the right one, and I've learned to trust it, especially if it opens up an interesting chain of what-ifs that takes me further into the character and opens up some plot intrigue. I don't "save" (although I know what you mean) because my what-ifs grow out of a specific character/plot situation and aren't repeatable. Good questions, Carol--thanks!
