Danielle B asked Kristen Ashley:

Where do you get the ideas/inspiration for your novels? I picked up my first of your novels in August and I have read five others since then!

Kristen Ashley Well, it depends on the novel, darlin'. The Rock Chicks were my love letter to Denver (and the friends I left behind there) with a lot of the folks in those books being based on real people -- and outside of kidnappings, stun gunnings and, alas, hook ups with the Hot Bunch, there are some real life stories (some exaggerated, some not so much).

Then there's LADY LUCK, which came to me after watching the movie FASTER. The hero in that book was going to be my first anti-hero, a criminal out for revenge, his heroine cold as ice, but when Ty and Lexie came to me, they changed that. Still, the book was inspired by that movie.

There's also THE GOLDEN DYNASTY, which hit me after I experienced the trauma of Khal Drogo and his Khaleesi's love story in Game of Thrones.

Also in that series, FANTASTICAL was inspired after I watched TANGLED. I love (most) Disney movies and that one especially. Thought it would be fun to write an adult romance based on that kind of storytelling.

Those are the first that spring to mind. But most have no inspiration at all, they just come to me, or I see a man walking down the street and think he (or some part of him, like his gait) would make a good hero.

Inspiration can strike anywhere. And I'm a lightning rod for it! HA!
