Hello! I'm not sure if you'll be able to answer my questions, so if you can't, would you mind passing them on to your editor if s/he has the time to answer them? 1. What exactly does an editor do? 2. Are there any courses you should take in high school if you wanted to be an editor?

Hey! Sadly, I don't know THAT much about this stuff, since I'm not an editor. And my poor editor is currently so slammed from being gone for the holidays that I don't think I can add anything else to her plate at the moment.
So I will say that an editor wears a lot of different hats. They do so much more than simply buy and edit books (and editing, btw, involves giving the author notes to make the book a better book). They're involved with covers and titles and marketing and publicity--plus all the business back end stuff that I--as the author--never hear about. It's a HUGE job. Hence why I feel bad adding anything else to my editor's inbox and passing on this question. She already has about 6 other emails in there from me today regarding all kinds of other things--and I'm only one of her authors.
Not sure if there are classes in high school--though I'd think anything English related would be important. I bet you could find out a lot more info by googling this question.
Sorry I can't be more help.

Hehe, I've been wondering about this for a long time. :) (may or may not be a confusing question) It sorta seems like Foxfire has a lot of students, and they all basically have the same teachers, but the classes are one-on-one. (most of the time) So how do the teachers teach everybody by the end of the school day? :))

Do you know who Sophie will end up with? Or are you just writing and finding out as you go?
