A friend of mine said this was her favorite book - so I ordered it from Amazon.... 1184 pages of small print !!!!! Yikes. But it is a compelling historical fiction..... taking me FOREVER to read, but I am half way thru it. Should I stick with it ?

But I was on a week l…moreI broke one of my cardinal rules for this book. If it doesn't grab me in 50 pages, it goes on the "finish in my next life" pile. But I was on a week long trip with 30 teenagers and it was all I had. It took 150 pages and then something just slid into place and I was hooked. So keep going, the magic here is slow and lovely and you'll be glad you did!(less)
