That's an interesting question, Elise. (Also hi! I hope all is well with you and wish you a happy New Year!) From the get-go, I was passionate about ending on this note. I love finding the light in the dark, and the ending for You was so important to me in that way, when Joe gets that invitation, he's so sad and then he's lifted because of the idea of the future is sometimes enough to change your present. This character gets by because he kind of squirms his way into a positive mindset. I love that about him, always want to end with that.

hi caroline, i must say first off that you are a brilliant writer your books (YOU and HIDDEN BODIES) gave me everything i wanted in a book, excitement, worry, happiness ect. i have 3 children and still managed to read both books in 3 days i just couldn't put them down. i have read that your working on more joe after your next books which is fantastic, so my question is when do you think i can get my joe fix?

What would you define as Joe's mental state? As in, he's definitely got many traits of being a sociopath, but if you were a Psychologist, what would you 'diagnose' him with? Also, do you think he would be perceived as an odd or different kind of person if a stranger were to see him in public, or would he be seen as just an average looking guy? Especially from the perspective of someone who created him!
