Ryan asked Jennifer Lynn Alvarez:

How long have you wanted to be an author? As in, was it a last minute thing or a long-time dream?

Jennifer Lynn Alvarez Hi Ryan--it was a long-time dream!! When I was fifteen, I wrote in my diary that I wanted to write a horse fantasy book, but I was afraid to try because the book was the book of my dreams, and I didn't want to fail. I wrote my first full-length novel at the age of 19, then wrote another soon after.

But then I took a long break to get married and have kids. I began writing again around 2010. I wrote The Pet Washer (my indie book). Then a couple more, but I still hadn't written my dream book.

Until one special day in 2012. I was driving my car and I saw thousands of pegasi migrating across the sky (in my imagination, of course) and I become obsessed with them.

As soon as I got home, I began STARFIRE and I wrote the first draft in 20 days. I edited it and quickly signed with an agent and then accepted a book deal with HarperCollins. It all happened very fast, but the entire journey took a lifetime!

I hope that answers your question!! Jennifer
