Kristan Higgins Yeah, they tend to be between 30 and 40. Lately, I've been writing slightly older heroines (mid to late 30s, the current one 40). That's sort of the sweet spot for me; old enough to have accomplished some things and stand on your own; old enough that settling down is more of a priority than, say, a 23 year old heroine would want. My end goal for my characters is always that this relationship is going to last a lifetime, because I think that's what most of us want, and romance novels always deliver on that. I haven't written two really young characters, but you never know!
