I think that it depends on her threshold. I am a 14 year old guy and I was not completely freaked out by this book. There is a slightly risque scene with Jack and Wendy, but the book is not written for scares. For me it was more of a psychological thriller than a horror novel. I think that she could definitely handle it, and I read it in three days, so it's over fast.
