Doreen Petersen
Doreen Petersen asked Landon Roussel:

What gives you ideas for writing? Would you ever consider relating your experiences at your home parish in the Catholic Thoughts Group?

Landon Roussel Doreen, thanks for asking. Good question.

I started writing when I was in college after a conversion experience. I always found writing to be a form of prayer. As Saint Ignatius made clear in his exercises, a healthy introspection can actually draw us closer to the Divine. Not to the point of navel-gazing, of course. I found that a degree of introspection was exactly what I needed in my less reflective way of doing things.

I usually like to write about every day experiences, but with a bit deeper thought and reflection than the moment-to-moment hastiness with which I find myself running through the day. Often times, it is the moments of difficulty from which I find most inspiration.

I would be glad to speak at the Catholic Thoughts Group, though I'm unaware of where it it is. We do have a book reading group at my home parish, which I've reached out to.

Thanks again for reaching out.
