Goodreads asked Ian Anderson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Ian Anderson I find that writer's block is a state of mind which requires two things: (1) some time away from the book, just to allow the subconscious mind to do its work, and (2) something to put you 'back in the mood'. For me it's music. I find that deep, reflective music (with beautiful chord progressions), leads to a real urge to get moving on the book again. Quite often, the words come whilst the music is still playing.
