Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Adrian Beckingham My most recent book The Diamond Ship is a children's historical novel which follows a truly remarkable story that has never been written before. It traces the journey and exploits of the pirate captain whose crew seized the most vaulable haul ever in pirate history - before trying their best to keep the tale secret. They did a good job as the tale of their exploits has lain dormant for nearly 300 years. I first heard mention of a whisper of it when storytelling at a National Trust property. It then took me several years to get round to beginning my research, which composed mainly of reading old, often out of print books, written at the time by journalists, authors, and also some diaries.
