Hi Kristan, Your books are both hilarious and poignant. Do you begin a book thinking of the characters, or do you start with the sad/challenging/frustrating situation and fit the characters into the story? ( I love all of your books, can't pick a favorite, but I will never forget the Norman-Bates wedding...)

Hi, Tracy! I think my books stem from both: a situation and the worst person to be in it. It makes for a good conflict. But sometimes I'll hear about a situation and I'll think, "That! Yes! Write about that!" because the issue is so compelling.

I read all the books in the Blue Heron series and many of your other stand alone books. In all the books that I read you have a very distinct pattern to the stories. The one thing I don't like is the way you close the story. The couple breaks up and then very quickly they get back together and a marriage proposal takes place immediately. no time between "I am sorry" and Will you marry me? The worse one, In your dreams

She said they would make me smile and feel hopeful about romance. She was right. You are adorable and your books are uplifting. I now own everything you have published, and read them multiple times.
