Goodreads asked Roof Alexander:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Roof Alexander My most recent novel The Present Immortality came from a need to capture a time right before hand-held technology took over our everyday lives. It is based in the summer of 1999, and the narrative is from the point of view of a couple on a road trip without a destination. I also wanted to create a story in which the two main characters (man and a woman perspective) are battling with choosing freedom over progression, so there is a contrast against the freedom of not being connected to the progression of a changing more convenient world.
