(Also very educational and entertainin…moreI would say this one is better for middle school kids. I was an adult when I read it, and I found it upsetting. (Also very educational and entertaining). The cannibalism is handled as gracefully as it can be; this isn't a gross-out book. It's a book about people trying to survive after very, very bad decisions (seriously, Lansford Hastings was a POS and James Reed was an autocratic idiot). Still, probably a bit too harrowing for younger kids. I'd say save this one for the 11-13 crowd.(less)
