Dianne asked this question about Rising Strong: The Reckoning. The Rumble. The Revolution:
Why is everyone loving this book? I don't get it? It doesn't seem like her best book to me. It's filled with stories about her and how she responds to life. Does this seem to fit for all of you?

Rising Strong is for those who have fallen and are afraid of getting up, or putting themselves out there and being vulnerable again.

I would suggest to others, if that's not where you are in life, start with one of her other books. For me I liked the order of The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly then Rising Strong.

Brené is also a story teller at heart. She frames her research with these stories. For me, that makes her very rateable because she is not behind a curtain in a darkened room with her scientist coat and librarian's glasses, booming teaching in her best Oz voice. She's applying her research to her own life, and sharing the stories of it's cause and effect. I like that.

However, I understand not everyone does.

I would say put it on the shelf and pull it out again if/when you feel you need to regather strength and get back up again after one of lives knock downs. (less)
