Unequivocally yes. It will forever change anyone’s opinion that graphic novels are a “kids thing” or “nerds”.
The story may be told primarily in pictures, but they illustrate a rich, powerful true story of a father and his son, who learns what his father’s unbelievable struggle in a dark time in history affected not only him, but his own life as well decades later. The animal symbolism is parallel to that of Animal Farm, but far more lucrative in using art and words to do so.

Yes Every Jewish Book Club I have ever been in has chosen this book. The first time I made a face, saying Comics are for children, and after that initial introduction with each reading I seem to get something different with each reading. It should be mandatory reading, as should many of these books for our young people in that the messages cross all the rational and religious lines. But instead we have a president and an educational system that segregates rather than unites, Look at what he has done to Israel and yet does not seem to have the same hatred for his own Muslim folk. The past is beginning to repeat. READ THE BOOK.
