I noticed that a lot of the heroes that are introduced are vying for another heroine's attention. (Luke, Tack, Ham, Ren, Mike) Love the story BUT hate the feelings it brings up. In the back of my mind, I always think that if the heroine would have chosen them, then THEY'd be the fairytale couple. They're all good men and women, so they could fall in love. Right? I hate the idea of 'consolation prize'. Your thoughts?

Well, my thoughts are, if it was meant to be that those vying for a heroine's attention were the fairytale couple, then it would be. In my books, and even others I've read, I never get the "consolation prize" feeling (never even thought that! HA!). I'm about the hero and heroine. If there's another that's a good guy, that's awesome. Good guys, hot guys, romantic guys deserve their piece of happiness...with the right woman.
I couldn't imagine Violet with Mike. Or Luke with Roxie. Ham with February. Ren with Ava. Those DO NOT work. Mike was meant to be with Dusty, Luke with Ava, Ham with Zara and Ren with Ally. Their journeya might have zigged and zagged but life's journeys do that. We find good fish in the sea along with the duds. And it still isn't mean to be...until it IS meant to be! :-)
