I am so heartily disappointed in the mini-series. I love Franco, but he's NOT Jake...and the series strays from the book story line way too much for my taste. Hugh Grant would have made a better Jake/George in my opinion... and the mini-series didn't even use the name George. Why the heck not?

I loved the book . I read it when it first came out then read it again a month ago. Then I BOUGHT the series on Amazon. So disappointed! I cannot relate Franco to Jake and they changed so many things. Like he met Sadie when she was still with her husband. The yellow card man was wrong. The timeline of events was wrong. And they left out Jakes time in Florida. I gave up after the second episode.

The one thing I can say about the miniseries is that watching the first episode is what got me to read the book. But after reading the book, watching the rest of the miniseries was mostly disappointing. I liked the first episode and the last episode the most. Some of the changes they made in the miniseries were more irritating than interesting unfortunately.

THANK YOU! I was telling my husband today that this book would make a good movie. I'm glad to see it happen.

NO I DID NOT!!! Thank you for sharing!! I am so excited for this series. Looks like I need a Hulu subscription!

I loved this book. I have no intention of ever seeing the film adaptation. There is no way it could ever improve or enrich the experience of the novel. I want to keep the brilliant and beautiful words of the author and the images of my imagination just where they are.

Mini-series just seldom capture a story like a book. This didn't do it.

I enjoyed the series. It was fast paced and very well cast. James Franko, who played Jake Epping, was such a fan of the book that he attempted to get the rights to adapt it. After writing about his love for the book in Vice, he came to the attention of Stephen King, and landed the role. It was a treat to see Chris Cooper, a true chameleon, play Al. And Sarah Gadon as Sadie, well. . . she was perfect. All that said. . . those of us who have read the book will each have conjured up internal characters that either match or surpass the actors, and most of us would have stayed to the story line as written, but. . .

The series is worth a look simply because James Franco and Sarah Gadon were really good in it. The book's plot wasn't that fresh in my mind but I did pick up that the series veered from the book from time to time. Could have been better, but it thankful it wasn't worse. It's worth getting a free Hulu trial to bingewatch.

I JUST subscribed to HULU and have a mixed response to the two episodes of 11/22/63 I watched. I adore the LOOK of 1960's small town life, but so far am put off by the obviousness/baldness of the mini-series' depictions of the past's trying to stop Jake. In the book, I savored Jake's exchanges with the Yellow Card man, who always says: "I got a yellow card from the greenfront, so gimme a buck because today's double-money day." Then Jake and the YC Man go on to have the same prescribed, loopy conversation. In the HULU series, the Yellow card man reiterates: "You don't belong here"--far less interesting! I'm waiting to see whether the delicious jump-rope girls appear in the mini-series.
