I don't think it's sexist, I just think she wanted to write about a girl. There are tons of books about girls, but also tons of books about boys.
Mackenzie
Maybe, because she's a girl and feels more comfortable writing about a girl!!

This is a stupid question. And just because she wrote about a girl doesn't mean it's sexist. Besides, if she wrote about a boy, would you go and say, "Why didn't she write about a girl? Why did she have to write about a boy? That's just sexist!"
Mary Ann
I hope this is a troll....
Baraa Aly
Ok, are you being serious?
sarah
What the actual heck do you mean?

I don't think it's sexist, I just think she wrote about a girl because she understands the feelings of a girl more than a boy. She may have had real life experiences that happen in the book. Also, it is her first book after all. Being a girl is soooooooooo much different than a boy. We get different hormones, we flirt differently etc.

How stupid....Have you not ever read a book consisting of girls???? Girl online definitely wasn't "sexist," in fact, one of the boy characters in the book(Eliot), is gay. So, how is this book sexist? There are millions of books with girls being their main character. And, Girl Online was the title of the book because Penny's blog was a main part of the plot. I really shouldn't be wasting much time on this , so I'm going to end it here.
