Goodreads asked Stuart Gibbs:

How do you get inspired to write?

Stuart Gibbs Most of my stories seem to stem from things I was interested in as a kid. (And, thankfully, things I'm still interested in now.) I always thought it'd be fun to live at a zoo -- or become a spy -- or travel to space -- or go back in time. But I also know that the reality of any of those things probably isn't what I envisioned as a kid. There can be a lot of humor in that disconnect.

To find inspiration, I try to explore those areas: I visit the zoo. I watch James Bond movies and imagine what could go wrong. I do research. I take long walks and play with my ideas.
