Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Suzanne Nelson I've always been fascinated by lost shoes I see on the side of the road or handing from trees or telephone wires. One day I was driving around my home town and I drove past a single red slingback sitting on a boulder in front of a small cottage. It stayed there for weeks, in rain and wind, and all the while I wondered who had left it there and why. When I mentioned this to my sister (who incidentally has a small obsession with shoes), she told me that I needed to write a story about "lost shoes," and SERENDIPITY'S FOOTSTEPS was born.
