Goodreads asked Sujit Banerjee:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Sujit Banerjee First and foremost - be honest to yourself and ask if you really write well. Ask people who will answer that unbiased. You HAVE to be self critical to succeed. Then nothing works like hard work. You have to keep slogging - writing and then rewriting. It is an endless process! Ask if you would like to read the kind of stuff you are writing. If you do then your heart is at the right place and you only need the finesse. Join a club that guides you or attend short courses on writing style. Have a clear cut theme in your mind. Research each subject so that you do not make a mistake. Focus your energy into the main subject - stay away from thoughts that excite you but are not relevant to the story! Try and be unique in your subject. Random thoughts and there are so many more cues...
