Alex Adam asked Douglas J. Bornemann:

I really enjoyed the chapter titles in DEMON OF HISTLEWICK DOWNS. They give a smidge of a clue as to what will transpire, but not too much, and have that little twist of cunning to them that is so enjoyable. My favorite is "Turnabout is Foul Play" for Chapter 29. I'm curious to know if you titled each chapter after you wrote it or waited until you had finished writing the book and then added them?

Douglas J. Bornemann Hi Alex! I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter titles. Those titles often required considerable percolation time before they coalesced. Although I haven't always done it this way, my current protocol is to complete a chapter and then come up with the title. That trend began when I started writing DoHD, since it was originally conceived as a serial. I'm likely to be most sensitive to a chapter's nuances when it's still fresh, and nuance is key to distilling that cunning twist I've come to view as so essential. I'm pretty fond of "Turnabout" too, but if pressed, I'd have to say my favorite has to be "Object of the Proposition."
