Donna Mckeller
Donna Mckeller asked Melanie Dickerson:

I absolutely LOVE your books. There is warmth and depth to your charachters that makes you want to know them. I don't always get that from every author I read and wanted to thank you for that gift. I am always trying to guess where you will draw the next story from and am anxious to read the next one before I even get the current one finished. How do you choose your next fairytale?

Melanie Dickerson Thank you, Donna! I'm so happy you like them!
My choice is usually influenced by the character I've decided to write about next. But in the case of The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest, I was starting a brand new series, so I mulled it over for a few weeks before getting the idea of doing a mash-up of two fairy tales, and chose Robin Hood and the ballet, Swan Lake. Those are two favorite stories of mine from when I was a young pre-teen and teen. I don't get an idea all at once. It usually comes on gradually, as I play around with different directions the story might go.
