What book scares you the most?

Justin Cronin This may seem odd to say, but I’m never scared when I read a novel. Interested, yes. Excited, yes. Engaged by the world of the story and the language the writer has used to create it, absolutely. But never scared. On the other hand, certain movies frighten the wits out of me. Last week, on a blustery New England night, in a disturbingly creaking and empty house not far from a colonial era cemetery with headstones bearing names like “Prudence” and “Jedediah,” my daughter and I watched The Blair Witch Project together. Something never said after that movie: “Well, that was fun! Off to bed! Sleep tight!”
