Nicola asked Suanne Laqueur:

I've just finished reading TMIL and I loved it so much. I see from your other questions you have a follow up for Daisy and Erik but I was wondering if there was going to be a book for David? Don't get me wrong, I don't like him for what he did to them, and after skimming GMYAT I see there is a bit more back-story for him and Daisy but I actually really liked him after the shooting. Will he get to tell his story?

Suanne Laqueur WOW! Now that's a question I've never been asked before, usually people want to know when I'm going to write Will's book :-)

I'll let you in on a little secret: I almost killed David off. There's a cut chapter with Erik finding out his old nemesis died from cancer, and Erik having to deal with the ensuing, confused feelings. But I ended up not using it. Something in me just said, "No, keep him alive."

David's finest moments were after the shooting but like everyone else, he got sucked down into self-destruction. You do get more of him in GMYAT, both in terms of background and resolution, but he does remain a bit of an unfinished story. He's a presence in the sequel "Here to Stay" but doesn't make a physical appearance.

I'll be honest I never thought hard about telling his side of events but it certainly would be interesting. Really his experience mirrors Daisy's so much—the unresolved grief and guilt and years of isolation from the ones he loved so much, even if he had a terrible way of showing it. It would be a huge challenge to tell his story in a unique way.

I kept him alive so I guess that means I'm not done with him. Definitely let me know your thoughts after you finish GMYAT, all right? Awesome question!!
