It is described very easily, actually. You will have to concentrate of course, but the examples are easy to understand.
He takes another route, if you want. He doesn't try to teach you math but to show you through easy every-day-examples the concepts behind Einstein, Standardmodell and String-Theory.

i am a science geek in the sense i love reading about it, but i haven't studied science or maths past the age of 16 and have little-to-no real knowledge of mathematics or intricate physics theories. nevertheless, i didn't think that hindered my enjoyment of this book! granted, i had read some popular science books on quantum physics before, but still; i don't think you need any academic background in the subject to understand it (honestly i am Atrocious at maths). i'd go for it if i were you! :)

I have no background in physics and enjoyed this book. It gets pretty dense about halfway through. But honestly, you could read the first half and it be worth picking up. Does a good job with analogies.
Chris
It's fairly heavy subject matter. The writer uses anecdotes well to explain some pretty mind blowing concepts! No equations present thus far.
