What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Tim C. Taylor Spread your wings to get involved with other writers and readers from different groups. Learn from a range of people, but most of all learn from people who are successful in the terms by which you define it. For example, if your ambition is to be a full-time reader (and that is not the only valid definition of success) then gravitate to people who have achieved that, but not to the exclusion of less commercially successful authors. Writing for a living is very hard. Listen carefully to the people who saw that as a challenge and met it.
