Goodreads asked A.L. Michael:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

A.L. Michael Don't stop! I know so many talented writers who start a brilliant idea, and then get caught up in whether it's original enough, whether it's got too many adverbs, whether the main character is actually a bitch. Self-doubt is the devil when it comes to getting a piece of work out there. Write the thing down, like it's possessing you, and then stick it in a box for a few weeks, and THEN revisit it.

Also, if you want to be a writer, be a writer. By which I mean you should be writing more than you're talking about writing.
