How do you get inspired to write?

Cara C. Putman I often get inspired by a historical event for my WWII novels. I'll stumble across an event or detail (like the Monuments Men) and I'll want to learn more. That then leads to more research, and I might talk to a few people about it. If they're intrigued, I start building characters and plot around that historical framework.
