Marysue Ryan asked this question about Childhood’s End:
I read Childhoods end when I was a young adult and loved it . I am planning on reading it again. I am wondering if you all think that it would qualify as a good read aloud book? I am a dorm parent for grades 7,8 and 9 at a boarding school. now that the weather is getting cozier I am going to start reading for 20-30 min before lights out. Any thoughts? suggestions?

I was working part-time and was able to start membership in the "book of the month" club, "Childhood's End" was one of the featured books. I found it engaging, different, and was engrossed to the very last page - very different ending than which I expected. Surprisingly, as I read the last few pages, my sister was listening to the radio and the Four Tops' "I'll be There" began to play. I couldn't believe the sensations I began to feel reading the end of this remarkable story, while listening to the music, and found both to meld quite well together. I still get chills each time I hear that musical selection.

Although I was older than 7, 8, and 9, I was unable to put the book down and believe that some 9 year olds will find it interesting - both male and female. Just allow them to make the decision. I Recommend It.(less)
